Corporate governance, ownership concentration and performance of European agricultural companies: New empirical evidence

Considering the relevance of agricultural sectors for European countries' development, but also volatile features agriculture, with unforeseen risks induced by climate, ensuring durable economic progress is foremost companies. This paper aims to assess associations key parties in corporate governance (directors, managers, advisers, and shareholders), employees independence level main outcomes capacity/size companies operating fishing, aquaculture activities. Using a newly compiled complex dataset 3 184 active from Europe, provided ORBIS database, advanced modelling approaches were employed, based on robust regression (RREG) Gaussian Graphical Model (GGM). The findings emphasised that: directors, advisors had strong positive influence firms' size, boosting their turnover, shareholders' funds; connections companies' liquidity; number exerted impacts size these companies; negative impact outcomes. Finally, specific measures must be addressed primarily reconsider directors managers participation ownership due unfavourable effects.
